In this post, we’ll show you how to launch without a hunter, build organic traction, and set yourself up for a great first 24 hours.

1. Understand How Product Hunt Works
Product Hunt resets its homepage every day at 12:00 AM PT. That’s your window to make it to the top 5. The earlier you launch after reset, the better.
💡 Pro tip: 12:00 AM PT = 12:30 PM IST
2. Get Your Collaterals Ready
Even without a hunter, your assets will do the talking. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Thumbnail image (400×400) – clean logo or icon
- Tagline – keep it under 60 characters
- Short description (under 260 characters)
- Screenshots or demo images (3–6)
- Optional video – 30–60 seconds, captioned
- First Comment (Maker's Note) – authentic, story-driven, and asks for feedback
- Social share assets – for LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram
3. Set Up the Listing Without a Hunter
You don’t need a hunter to submit a product. Simply:
- Go to Product Hunt’s “Ship” page
- Create your listing
- Add makers (your team)
- Schedule the launch (or post live)
A hunter can give visibility, but it’s not a requirement for trending.
4. Rally Your Early Supporters
Before the launch day:
- Make a list of your community, users, and peers
- Prepare an email or DM with your PH link (without using “upvote” in the message — use “support” instead)
- Encourage them to comment, not just vote — engagement helps
5. Engage with Comments & Feedback
Once live, don’t just drop and disappear. Stay active:
- Respond to every comment
- Share interesting feedback on socials
- Pin your first comment with your story and call to action
6. Promote Gently — But Smartly
Use your own channels to drive visibility:
- Post on LinkedIn and Twitter with behind-the-scenes context
- Offer a small incentive (like we did):
